"Start Approval Process" missing in Workflow 2013

I'm playing around with a 2013 Designer Workflow and notice that "Start Approval Process" action is missing.  Is this right?

I tried the Assign a Task/Start Task Process Action which I guess does the same thing but when the user receives the email to approve, there is no longer an "Open This Task" button and the link in the email to the task takes them to the view of the task, not the edit view - also without the buttons to approve, reject or reassign task.

I'm happy to use the 2010 workflow if need be but it seems odd that this option has been removed?

Hi,

There is no start approval process in sharepoint 2013 instead there is start task  or assign a task .

If you want it go directly want to go to edit page you have to modify the url and that is not the default behavior. The reassign button has been taken out instead you can edit the task and put the name of user in assigned to column and save the task and task would get assigned to that user.

Let me know if you need more information.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks

Hi kelsnz,

I agreed with Bhism, there is no "Start Approval Process" in sharepoint 2013 platform workflow instead there is "Start a task process"  or "Assign a task".

And in SharePoint 2013 Designer, it also coontains SharePoint 2010 platform workflow, you can create a workflow using 2010 platform, then you can continue using "Start Approval Process". If you want to use it in SharePoint 2013 workflow, you can use "Start a List workflow" in 2013 workflow to trigger the SharePoint 2010 workflow.

About triggering a workflow in SharePoint 2013 workflow:

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Yes, I can use the 2010 workflow but I thought I'd check if this can be done using the 2013 version.  Our users are used to using the 2010 approval so I'll stick to that.  Thanks
